Spam and Viruses

Worried about getting Spam and Viruses from this mailing list? Well, don't be.

I am someone who is something of a crusader against Spam and Viri. I have taught courses on stopping Spam and Viri at the mail server level, I have devised an Anti-Spam/Anti-Virus system which is very accurate, and I offer Spam/Virus fighting services through my business. Needless to say, I know a thing or two about stopping Spam and Viri.

All ClanAM mailing lists (indeed, all SamHart.net mailing lists) are protected by my anti-Spam/Viral system. You can even see this system working by looking at these graphs. So, being on these lists you are just about as safe from Spam and Viruses as you can be.

That being said, no system is perfect, which is why these mailing lists can be posted to by subscribers only. Thus, any abuse on the list will be from other members on the list and not from some obscure or hidden third-party.

You can see this system working in each email message you get from the list. Simply view the email headers of the message and you will see something similar to the following:

X-Virus-Scanned: by Big Man Networks amavisd-new-20030616-p7 (Debian) at
        mail.samhart.net
X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-4.9 tagged_above=-100.0 required=4.1 tests=BAYES_00

This is a header that my email server inserts into each message to indicate that it has been scanned and has been found not to be spam or viral.
