New job idea

Chronomancer / Chrono Mage / Yellow Mage

Specialty: Time Based magic/ Fighter mage

Spells: Haste, Slow, Stop, Hastega, Slowga, Stopga, Nullslow, Nullstop, Break
Breakga.

Job Traits:
Time Lancer: Resistance to Stop and Slow
Time Resist: Decreases the amount of time status effects affect you.
Time Strech: Increase the amount of time status buffs apply to you.
Compression: Increased MP recovery while healing.

Job Abilities:
Chrono Drain: Casts haste on yourself and slow on an enemy.
Status Lancer: Increases the amount of time status effects affect the
enemy.
Speed Lancer: Increase the amount of time status buffs apply to your
party.
Gravitation: Casts slowga and Bio on the enemy.

2 hour ability: Manipulate: Freezes all enemies in range of the mage for 30 seconds. (No aggro, no action)

This would be a perfect partner for a WHM or a BLM. Imagine this: WHM casts Protectra, followed by the Chronomage casting Speed Lancer to increase the time the party keeps Protect.

Same with a BLM. The BLM casts poison then the Chronomage follows ups with Status Lancer.

The 2 hour ability would help parties escape trains, find camps, take on multiple enemies, anything that would involve stopping a given enemy in the AoE. This would be especially useful for the Promyvion missions, as the upper levels get crowded. Imagine just stopping them all for 30 seconds. Enough time to nearly reach the spire eh?

NOTE: This is just my own little thought and there is nothing suggesting that Squar Enix has any hint of such a job. I hope you enjoyed my little thought. I appreciate any feedback you have.

i like the creativity that your expressing here, its a good thing don't get me wrong. SE however limited the number of new classes it could introduce by recombinating differing job traits into a single class. I'm a huge fan of tactics and FF V due to the job system. In FF V there was a specific class called "Beserker" they had high spell immunities, DMG resistance, and High DMG output however they were always beserked... (FFXI WAR ability ; ;) The white mages and red mages basicaly took up all the Time Mages abilities (i think the yellow mage name is creative ^^ it flows well with the color schyme) SO there would be little use for one. I really think square could import some of our more favorite spells like Bio III, Blind II, Demi, Demi II, Demi III(yes believe it or not there is a demi II in ff history it does 3/4 life drain), Graviga, Zombie, Break, Meltdown, and Ultima.

Order

Wouldn't the Chronomage go first in the WHM, BLM combonation?

Just a little thought I had when reading this.

Time Mage

I know that time mage has been talked about on different boards and its a good idea i think. Just it would be called "Time Mage" not Chronomancer / Chrono Mage / Yellow Mage. It seems like im the only one who has played more then then just FFXI><;
