Great series of quests and 650k gil item
Submitted by sam on Mon, 02/13/2006 - 16:37.

Raprot/Meretrix recently clued me into a really neat series of quests that will eventually result in a rather nice item worth (right now) 650k gil. He's posted a tiny bit about them in the past, but I'd like to just share the quests with everyone (and try to gauge some interest in doing them :-)

Read on for more...

Quest Series

The quest series consists of the following:

They center around Bastok, but are CoP related quests.

Raprot is generally known as being the king of quests. He always runs around getting every quest he can, and then researches the hell out of them. Unfortunately for him, he is well behind the level he needs to be to actually complete most of these quests. So a lot of these quests sit on the shelf for a few months until he can wrangle up support for them (for example, I know he has another one of the teamwork quests for Rabao that he's been wanting to do since I first leveled off Robber Crabs in Kuftal over a year ago).

At any rate, the quest series is long and involved. But at the end, you get a Bowyer Ring which is currently going for 650k. You will need your Oldton Movalpolos map (info on getting that here) as well as access to Misareaux Coast (just need to be finished with the Promies).

Anyway... these are some fun little CoP quests (all of the areas came from CoP) and I'd be willing to help out others on them in the hopes that someday I can get enough people to help me get my ring (you need to do an ENM battle for the final leg of the series).

Schedule a Time

So Schedule a Time and let us know what you are thinking for tactics.

I tried to investigate part one of this Quest with Meretrix and all we got was aggro - so I logged for the night. I am level fifty-two.

If you are proposing (just as in Aqueducts) that we show up with a stack of sneak oil or prism powder, then say so. Both of these were selling for 34,000 gil last week - definitely lowers any profits from auctioning any ring. Moblins detect by sight.

Or are you proposing slowly fighting your way through Oldton Movalpolos one goblin at a time? In this case sneak/invis would not be needed for the party =^_^=

Hah

You're making this sound much more complicated than it is :-)

If you go in lower than I'd guess 60, then yes, you will need prism. If lower than 60, I'd probably just go out and level (seriously, Trix's biggest problem is he is usually too low to do the quests comfortably he wants to. Had it been me, I would have leveled to 60 before trying these quests :-)

Post 60, the only things that will aggro are the moblins deep inside. Either go with someone who can help you kill them (and stick together, obviously) or avoid them.

"Slowly fighting your way through Oldton" isn't "slow" at all. Last night I went out with Trix, Cyc and Dragon for this. Only Trix caught aggro, and he just used Tonko to avoid everything. The only moblins we *had* to kill were the few that spawned around the NPC that we needed (which were all "Too Weak" for me anyway). I'd say it was 2 or 3 mins from Oldton entrance to the NPC, tops. The only "slow" part was all the running back and forth to Bastok.

As far as posting a time... I think you misunderstood me....

...I don't want to post a time for an event, I'm already done with the first quest :-) Trix and I did that last night. I was just posting the information for other people and offered my help if anyone else was interested.

Meretrix suggested I pick up

Meretrix suggested I pick up this quest so I did. If the Mithra has the map (she does) then I will try to accomplish it LATE at night, one night this week.

I'll give out Shouts over the Linkshell; anyone who wants to do this Quest you will probably be given 40 minutes to get ready and you are likely looking at (Meretrix comes online late) starting this at 11:30PM Eastern (so close to Midnight on the east coast).

The above is my approach; anyone else who wants to suggest a different time to gather I suggest you post! - there is this nice web site I know of:

=^_^=

I'm down

I have most of the items needed for the future quests - the Garlic for example.

Let's get a balanced party of 6 and do this!

easy CoP quests

There is also another one in the safehold that gives you a Powerful Rope +20 HP +20 MP lvl 44. all you have to do is go kill a mob in mis coast. think the only pre for this is to be on or past CoP 3-5.
This belt is a great boon to all mages espically SMN and the last time I checked it was going for 500k on Jeuno AH.

Yeah, there are a lot of great item quests in CoP. The Verner Ring is another one.

Gluttony Sword

theres also another way to make money but i dont noe how easy it is. popping the NM for the gluttony sword. i noe u need 7 flint stones and u light up some torch in eldieme necropolis. the NM is lvl 60 mob but i asked some ppl if a 75 can solo him. supposedly it takes at least 12 ppl to kill him. if u guys like killing poppable NMs this is one way to make money. i noe that sword is going for over 1 million i think i dont noe. useful for plds.

Gluttony Sword

My other LS is planning on doing this. The sword was only worth about 1.3 million last time I checked. I think this Event should be done if we have a PLD in the Clan, otherwise just let it go. Just an opinion.

In any case you run to a Brazier, through a bunch of stuff for which *I* needed sneak and invis - and magic pots are just around the corner - but eventually you get to the Brazier, and...

...you sit and relax and be calm because all the Braziers have to be lit in about the same 1 min period. Alliance Leader tells you when to GO.

It was a Brazier for the spot I checked out, some claim they are actually Tallow Candles.

So folks are in different locations, popping monsters, then some folks just warp out, some fight their monster which appears, the mob who drops the sword - think it takes three or four folks to defeat him.

Hard

We can easily take the fight - it's popping all the NM skulls thoughout the area that is the issue.

Alliance

Takes an alliance I believe, and if you are not doing it to get it for a PLD in your LS some in the alliance may well ask:
"tell me why we are doing this again?"

Maybe if the sword goes back up to 2 million.

In any case I could take one Brazier to light, and just warp out when my mob appeared.
