Submitted by sam on Wed, 12/14/2005 - 14:41.
When?
  • 2-3: Saturday, Dec 17th 2005 @ 4:00pm Eastern (3:00PM Central, 2:00pm Mountain, 1:00pm Pacific)
  • 2-5: Saturday, Dec 17th 2005 @ 8:00pm Eastern (7:00PM Central, 6:00pm Mountain, 5:00pm Pacific)

Where? Meet in Tavnazian Safehold

Level Cap? 40

How long will it take? Minimum of 2 hours per mission

What are the rewards? Completion of CoP Chapters 2-3 & 2-5

What do you need?

  • You must have completed the 3 Promyvion missions
  • You must have access to Tavnazian Safehold
  • You must have a job past 40 and level 40 gear
  • You must have low Fomor hate (see below)
  • All persons (except those with the spells) will need (at least) 2 stacks of Sneak Oil
  • All persons (even mages) will need (at least) 1 stack of Prism Powders
  • All persons (everyone) will need (at least) 1 stack of Holy Water
  • For people doing 2-5, mages will need Ethers and melee will need Hi-Potions.

It's that time again, we have a new fresh handful of people to get through 2-3. This time, we are also going to try to get through 2-5 in the same day. Can we do it? I certainly think so... Read on for the details and to discuss the time...

What are the Phomiuna Aqueducts?

They are the location of the next big mission in the CoP storyline after the Promyvions. If you have not yet completed the Promyvions, don't worry, we still have semi-weekly Promy ENM runs that you can tag along with to complete them.

What do I need to do to be ready to go?

The Aqueducts are filled with Fomors. Fomors are like us (adventurers), but undead. They travel in parties, and have the same jobs as us. They also can be lethal if we fight them.... Thus, we do not want to fight them.

Fomors will not aggro you unless you have what is known as "Fomor hate". You get Fomor hate from killing Fomors. Killing the Fomors in the areas around the Safehold as well as inside the Aqueducts counts towards Fomor hate. If you have ANY Fomor hate, then the Fomors will aggro you. Have enough Fomor hate, and they will aggro you whether you are sneaked, invisible, or even a very far way away.

Thus, the most important thing you can do before coming to the Aqueducts run is to reduce your Fomor hate. To do this, kill Orcs (and other Beastmen) in the areas surrounding the Safehold (Tavnazian Archipelago).

In order to determine your Fomor hate, talk to Resauchamet in the Safehold (top floor). Before we begin, we want to have as low as hate as possible.

What is Riverne Site #A01?

This is the location of the next CoP mission. Compared to the murky Promyvions, and the cramped Aqueducts, this place will be quite pleasent.

What do we do there?

We journey through various areas of the region (somewhat similar to how you ascended Promyvion) using what are known as "Spatial Displacements" to move from area to area. Some of these Displacements will be "Unstable" and will require "Dragon Scales" in order to activate them.

Once through the area, we will have to fight a boss battle with three Mammet-19-Episolon enemies. This will be rough.

These three enemies have the ability to change between three different jobs at will; Black Mage, Warrior, and Dragoon. While they change, they will do special moves that will turn all physical or magic damage into healing for them. Yes, that's right, this means that if you attack them during these special moves you will cure them. I know, it sucks.

The key here is to use a special item called "Yellow Liquid". Yellow Liquid will lock them into a specific job for a period of time. Thus, very much how Anima was the key to Promyvion, Yellow Liqiud is the key here.

We want to lock them into their Dragoon job when they get to it. The reason for this is because the Dragoon job will be the weakest to our attacks (Dragoons aren't tanks :-) and yet not have the nasty AoE attacks the other two have (Dragoons aren't nukers :-)

What do I need to do to be prepared?

There are two things that you can do. Only one of them is absolutely necessary.

  • Bring Yellow Liquid!!! This is the necessary one. Before leaving Jeuno, purchase several vials of Yellow Liquid. Everyone should have at least 3 Yellow Liquids (the tanks should have at least 6). With Yellow Liquid, we can stop the job changing and block their special moves that heal them.
  • Farm Dragon Scales from Firedrakes This one is not necessary, it would just make things easier. Dragon Scales are Rare/EX and drop from Firedrakes inside of Riverne Site #A01. These are necessary for moving through Riverne Site #A01. If we have enough before we enter the area, then that would be wonderful. However, if we do not, then we will be farming some Firedrakes while we work through the mission.

Anything else?

The aqueducts can be fought with an Alliance, and (as we found the last time) is best when you go as one your first time (we will have many first timers). The aqueducts are pretty straight forward, they just involve a lot of walking and avoiding enemies. Just be sure to have low Fomor hate.

Riverne Site #A01 can be traveled through as an Alliance, but once we get to the boss battle, we will have to split into parties of 6. Each party will need DD and at least two people who can kite the mobs. This means that for Riverne Site #A01 we will probably have to limit ourselves to very well balanced setups. Also, this means if we do not have at least 12 people, then the most "well balanced" group will have to be made for those who will fight the battle while the "leftovers" will have to sit it out. I'm sorry, but if we can't get enough for two full parties, then them's the breaks...

Also, Riverne Site #A01 seems to involve a lot of luck. If you get unlucky and all three Mammets are Warrior-type mobs with their high defense and AoE spells, and then the Mammets never turn into Dragoons, then your battle will be much more difficult. So, please approach this one as something that you may not succeed on your first try :-)

erase?

I know, I know. I really should have erase by now. By reading the info that Maior provided on that other website, it sounds like Erase is a -must-. I don't have it, so I won't be coming this Saturday. I hope you all are successful.

CoP Mission 2-4

Times need correcting, Eastern start appears to be off (or something).

So what is Mission 2-4? I know that as a general rule you don't finish a 2-3 and step immediately into accepting a 2-5.

****** edit ******

So I looked up 2-4 and it appears to be more walking around and talking to folks in/near Tavnazian Stronghold.

Also 2-5 continues to be level 40 capped fun! Exciting!

=^_^=

Handy reference

I've found it to be less than complete as far as strategy is concerned, but it is a nice reference to what is involved in all of the CoP missions:

Times for Promyvion Missions

So I talked to Maior about start times and he said that Minotaur begin is 4PM Eastern on Saturday and 4 hours later is Riverne Site start. That would make the hours....

Minotaur: 1PM Pacific, 2PM Mountain, 3PM Central, 4PM Eastern

Riverne Site: 5PM Pacific, 6PM Mountain, 7PM Central, 8PM Eastern

=^_^=

Sorry, but it is extremely highly doubtful I can make the Riverne Site run due to previously planned-for other things in Vana'diel on Saturday.

No Riverne run?

Bah... what other things could possibly be more important than running through a rough level 40 capped mission? :-P

No worries, I'm sure we will do it again. I even bet we wont be successful our first time.

Also, there was some talk of a second Riverne run on Sunday (Meretrix/Raprot wanted it). If enough people cannot do it on Saturday, we may just postpone it.

CoP Weekend

Okies!

So I will plan on showing up on the LinkShell at 3:40PM Eastern on Saturday.

Then again at 3:40PM Eastern on Sunday.

Then again at 7:40PM Eastern on Sunday.

And see what I can contribute for Clan CoP! =^_^=

Heh...

Actually, I think the possible run on Sunday will just be 2-5.
